Hello guys
,
Today I’d like to share an experience that has deeply blessed me and completely changed the way I see things.
There’s a verse we often repeat as Christians: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
.
I had always known this verse, and I agreed with it in theory. But only recently did I truly begin to understand what it really means
.
Some time ago, I visited an orphanage with some friends. It wasn’t just any orphanage, no, it was a home for children who had gone through unimaginably horrible pasts
. And when I say horrible, I mean truly horrible. To give you an example, one child had almost been burned alive by their own parents (and that was just one story among many).
Until then, most of the good deeds I had done were towards homeless people: giving clothes
, money
, or simply praying with them
.
But the moment I arrived at that orphanage, I realized something powerful
. As I handed out food
, clothes, and toys
, I suddenly became aware of how privileged I truly am. Yes, I’ve faced my own hardships, but watching those children (some disabled, some wounded, some abandoned) laugh , dance
, and find joy in such simple things left me feeling ashamed. Ashamed of the times I had complained over small problems. Ashamed of my lack of gratitude compared to these children who had endured so much more than I ever had.
I came with a pure heart
, ready to help and to give. And it’s true: I gave. But in the end, I received something much greater. Paul’s words in Acts became a living reality for me: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” ![]()
I walked away more blessed than if I had been given anything else. I was blessed with a beautiful lesson on gratitude and happiness
. Blessed with a reminder to be thankful for what I have. Blessed with the truth that helping even one living being can make a bigger difference than I ever imagined
.
That day, I learned something else
. Near the end of our visit, one of the children came to me crying because I was leaving. And in that moment, I realized: it wasn’t just the gifts of clothes or toys that mattered
.
What touched them the most was our presence. They were overjoyed because we came. Because we spent time with them
. Because we shared Jesus
with them. And that simple talk from a group of young people with hearts set on helping and spreading the gospel
could change their lives forever (because it’s Jesus we are talking about
).
So yes, it is true: we are more blessed when we give
. In giving, we open the door for God to bless us in ways we can’t even measure. As it happened for me that day
.
Helping one living being really can touch the whole world
. The seeds planted in those children
will grow, and in time, those same children will plant new seeds in others
. Because what they received(what they welcomed into their lives) was Jesus
. And that totally changes everything
.
A little lesson to take away from this:
Helping someone, no matter how small the action, truly matters.
In giving, we are blessed far more than in receiving.
