Long ago, I made a decision: to place prayer at the center of my Christian life. Prayer is not a burdensome obligation, but a great privilege. It is an honor to approach the Creator of the universe, the Almighty, the One who can do all things. And in His grace, He allows us to present our needs to Him in the name of Jesus Christ: for our lives, our families, our colleagues, our nation…
But often we ask ourselves this question: “Do my prayers really work?” That is why it is essential to recognize certain obstacles that can hinder our prayer life.
The first obstacle to prayer is not praying.
It seems obvious, but if we do not pray, we will not receive an answer. God acts through a living relationship with Him.
The second obstacle is hidden sin.
When we deliberately keep certain things in our lives in the shadows, as if God does not see them, we are mistaken. Because God knows everything. Confession is not for Him, but for us: it sets us free. He wants us to bring our faults to light so we can deal with them and walk in His grace.
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16)
How joyful to know that Jesus understands our struggles! Let us approach Him, not because we are perfect, but because He offers us forgiveness and welcomes us with love.

The third obstacle is doubt.
Who has never been overwhelmed by doubt? That happens to me too. I pray, I believe, and suddenly thoughts come to tell me: “Will this really work?” Let us remember that not all thoughts that cross our minds come from us: many come from the enemy, who uses our mind as a trash dump.
But doubt in our mind does not necessarily mean we doubt in our heart. The danger is listening to the lies of the enemy rather than relying on the faith that God has placed in our hearts. When we take a step of faith, God acts and progress begins. That is when Satan tries to sow small seeds of doubt: “Who do you think you are? You will never succeed… Look at how long you’ve been praying without seeing results…”
Let’s not listen to him. Stay firm in faith, because God is faithful.
If this sharing spoke to you, leave a comment, and I will soon continue with other teachings on prayer.
May the Lord bless you abundantly in Christ ![]()
