Hello, everyone ![]()
I want to tell you a story to illustrate what I’m going to say.
Imagine a young man named Daniel. He’s hardworking
, faithful, and genuinely wants to follow Jesus
. But every day, he faces small temptations. Things that seem harmless at first: a little gossip at work, scrolling on social media too much, comparing himself to others. Over time, these small choices begin to pull him away from God.
Daniel’s story feels familiar, right? Temptation isn’t always dramatic, sometimes it’s subtle, persistent, and sneaky. Yet Jesus promises us a way out.
In John 8:12, He says: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Walking in His light means living intentionally, being spiritually alert, and resisting the forces that would drag us into darkness. ![]()
Here are a few tips on overcoming temptation that I’d like to share. It helped me, so I hope it might help you too:
1. Recognize Temptation
-
Temptation often looks small, but it grows if ignored.
-
Ask yourself: “What am I letting into my life that pulls me away from God?”
2. Stay Close to God
-
Use prayer and scripture daily.
-
Jesus overcame temptation with God’s Word; we can too.
3. Connect with Others
-
Surround yourself with people who encourage your faith.
-
Accountability strengthens your spiritual walk.
4. Take Practical Steps
-
Avoid triggers and replace them with prayer, worship, or service.
-
Celebrate small victories. They build spiritual strength.
Walking in the light is a daily choice. Temptation is real, but so is God’s power in us. When we stay vigilant, connected to scripture, prayerful, and accountable, we can walk boldly in the light, resist temptation, and live the life Jesus intended for us.![]()
Let us reflect today: What is one area in your life where you need God’s light to shine brighter? Take that step, surrender it to Him, and walk in His truth.
John 8:12
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.”
