The importance of being the light in your family

Hello guys! :sparkling_heart:

Today, I’d love to talk about family, something close to my heart. :dizzy:

How important is it to be the light your family needs?

Family is a gift from God. I grew up in a Christian home, and though it hasn’t always been easy (we’ve had our share of difficult seasons, very difficult seasons, it’s a wonder how we seem better now), God has kept us together. :folded_hands:

I’ve seen how brokenness in extended family (uncles, aunts, cousins) can leave deep marks . If you’re the only Christian in a hurting home, unsure how to bring light :glowing_star:, God sees you and will walk with you. Living through my own challenges while seeing others’ pain shows me that His love can heal and restore any family :herb:.

:balloon: God’s heart for family

Psalm 133:1 says:

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.”

Unity doesn’t mean perfection; it’s choosing patience, kindness, and forgiveness, even when it’s hard :purple_heart:.
As siblings or with parents, we may bump heads or carry past hurts. “Hurt people hurt others,” but here’s the thing: we can break generational trauma by forgiving and letting God heal heavy places :sparkles:.

:balloon: What I’m learning as a sister

Here are a few lessons I’ve been trying to live by with my family.

  • Speak life :seedling:: Words can either build someone up or tear them down. This is even more true for a family. So choose encouragement, even on days I’m tired or upset.

  • Be present :dizzy: : time, laughter, or just being there shows care.

  • Pray :folded_hands: : especially when we can’t fix things ourselves. Jesus can.

:balloon: When families feel broken

Even if your home is hurting, or you feel alone in faith, Jesus can bring peace and teach love :sunflower:. I get that it’s not easy. But Jesus promises in John 16:33:

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

:balloon: Personal reflection

I’ve learned that being a sister and a daughter isn’t just about sharing DNA; it’s about choosing to stand by my family as we all figure out life together. :two_hearts:

I’ve learned that even even in hard times, staying loving lets Jesus work through you :glowing_star:.

:balloon: A little advice

Keep turning to Jesus. Pray, forgive quickly, and celebrate every little steps (no matter how small). Even when families break, His love can make us whole. :raising_hands::sparkles:
